‘I’ve never seen anything like them – quite extraordinary’ was the comment by one visitor about the beautiful contemporary Tiwi ochre paintings we have on show in this wide ranging exhibition that highlights the patter making, texture and colour in Indigenous art. Similar comments have been made about the the lyrical black and white ‘star’ poles, the unique spirit figure ‘floating’ sculptures and sophisticated barks by award winning and leading artists from Buku Larrngay Mulka, Yirrkala, East Arnhem Land, some rare Tiwi sculptures and many other works. Other outstanding exhibits include classic textured Kimberley ochres and lush colour paintings by top collectible artists Freddie Timms, Billy Thomas, Sally Gabori, Kaye Baker, Shorty Jangala Robertson and many more.

As well as the 30 plus works on show, our stockroom is filled with a wide variety of paintings from many regions including Utopia, the APY Lands and the Western Desert.
