Queensland Indigenous Art Diary 2010

McCulloch & McCulloch

In recent years the Indigenous art of mainland Queensland and the Torres Strait Islands has come to the fore as some of the most exciting contemporary art in Australia, being noted as such throughout Australia, and increasingly, internationally. Hugely diverse in media, it also ranges across many styles and forms of expression.

The Queensland Indigenous Art Diary 2010 is a beautifully illustrated, small format, high quality diary that celebrates the work of more than 60 Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander painters, weavers, carvers, printmakers, photographers and new media artists with more than 70 images of their dynamic artwork.

The painting `Flying over the Reef’ by young Lockhart River artist Samantha Hobson is the stunning cover image and inside the Diary features the work of Australia’s 2009 Venice Biennale representative Vernon Ah Kee; national award winning artists Richard Bell, Dennis Nona and Thancoupie; and works by Tony Albert, Rosie Barkus, Bianca Beetson, Jack Bell, Gambinya Thelma Burke, Karen Chong, Joanne Currie, Fiona Elisala, Emily Evans, Andrea Fisher, Fiona Foley, Jenny Fraser, Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori, Jennifer Herd, Samantha Hobson, Silas Hobson, Gordon Hookey, Adrian King, Leah King-Smith, Craig Koomeeta, Birrmuyingathi Maali Netta Loogatha, Moira Macanboy, Doreen Marpoonden, Vic McGrath, Arone Meeks, Lisa Michl, Billy Missi, Archie Moore, Abe Muriata, Gary Namponan, Laurie Nilsen, George Nona, Rosella Namok, Joel Ngallametta, Marybell Ngallametta, Mavis Ngallametta, Fiona Omeenyo, Arthur Pambegan Jr, Kuruwarriyingathi Bijarrb Paula Paul, Susie Pascoe, Doris Platt, Margaret Pootchemunka, Dorothy Pootchemunka, Gurrdaji Reggie Robertson, Brian Robinson, Joel Sam, Vincent Serico, Ken Thaiday Sr, Alick Tipoti, Ian Waldron, Judy Watson, Lilla Watson, Bunbudgee Gordon Watt, Keith Wikmunea, Hersey Yunkaporta and Ron Yunkaporta.
