Painting the Song launches
Several launches around Australia were held in 2009 to celebrate the book 'Painting the Song: Kaltjiti artists of the sand dune country' by Diana James. The first launch was held at Flinders University Art Museum City Library Gallery in Adelaide on Wednesday 22 April, launched by Justice Thomas Gray, Supreme Court of South Australia, the second at Putipula Gallery, Noosa, on Saturday July 20 and the third at Gallery Gondwana, Alice Springs, on Saturday June 27 2009, launched by historian and ethnographer Dick Kimber.
Darwin 2007/2008
In Darwin for the NATSIAAs, launching exhibitions and the Aboriginal art fair, and research trips to surrounding areas such as Milingimbi and Peppimenarti.
Melbourne launch (40th anniversary of the Encyclopedia, Melb. launch of Contemporary Aboriginal Art) 2008
We celebrated the 40th anniversary of McCulloch's Encyclopedia of Australian Art, and gave a Melbourne launch for the new McCulloch's Contemporary Aboriginal Art: the complete guide and our new McCulloch's Encyclopedia Australian Art Diary 2009, in style at Melbourne Fine Art, Bryan Collie's gallery which is a little bit of Paris in the middle of Melbourne. Art historian & close McCulloch family friend Janine Burke was our guest speaker.
Brisbane launch (New Beginnings) 2008
Launch of New Beginnings: Classic Paintings form the Corrigan Collection of 21st Century Aboriginal Art, by Emily McCulloch Childs, Ross Gibson, with a preface by Margo Neale. Launched by Therese Rein at the Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane, Wednesday November 12 2008.
Perth launch and forum (New Beginnings) 2008
McCulloch & McCulloch were invited by Randell Lane Fine Art to take part in an exhibition launch followed by a forum and book signing in Perth. Susan McCulloch opened the exhibition of Tjungu Palya artists, whose works feature in all our books, and whose artist Wingu Tingima is featured on the cover of New Beginnings. Pat Corrigan joined us in book signings and a forum on Saturday, as well as the first ever public performance of the Piltati dance by the Tjungu Palya dancers.
